Sports & Racing Days

Rain, hail or shine, sports and racing days are held six times throughout the year during the cooler months.

Each dog gets to race six times during the day and a lot of fun is had by all.

The dogs are graded into standards and tall's, with tall's being over 30 centimetres at the withers (top of shoulder)

The first set of races are over our 100 metre straight track. The first set of races are over our 100 metre straight track. Chasing a fox lure each dog races in a heat and their placing determines which final they draw.

For example if a dog runs first in his heat he draws into the firsts final, if second into the seconds final and so on. Up to eight dogs can compete in any one race. After the 100 metre flat heats and finals we do it again over the 100 metre hurdles.

The dog at the end of the day who accumulates the most points becomes our dog of the day. The dog who accumulates the most points over the entire racing season wins the dog of the year. Each competition is divided between the standards and tall's.

Many other prizes and ribbons are handed out over the year and there are games put on for the kids. A Lolly Guessing Competition is conducted, with the winner getting the lollies, as well as a raffle with some great prizes.

Entry fee is $10.00. Please bring the correct change and smaller notes. Muzzle hire is $35 including a refundable deposit of $25. If you like the muzzle you can keep it and forfeit the deposit. Participants must be at the track by 9.45 am for registration and racing begins at around 10.30 am depending on the number of entries this could be a little later. A current vaccination certificate is required to be sighted for first timers - if you don't have one, give us a call to discuss on 02-8847 2554. Bring shade, shelter if it rains,  and chairs as the days normally run for 4 to 6 hours. BBQ Food and Drinks are available. Non members are invited for two meetings but must join the club to be able to continue attendance.

FEMALES IN OESTRUM (IN SEASON) ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE ON THE GROUNDS.

Our race days are held at the Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs, 44 Luddenham Road, Erskine Park NSW 2759. Take the "Mamre Road" exit off the F4 and take the next right into Luddenham Road. Go through the big brick gates and following the signs straight down to the back paddock.

See our calendar for upcoming dates.
